Seattle film darling Lynn Shelton, director of “Humpday,” is moving to the web. She has directed a Seattle-based webisode series for MTV’s $5 Cover, a psuedo-reality web series that follows artists in multiple cities throughout the US. Lynn follows 13 eclectic Seattle bands, reenacting their triumphs and failures on stage and in their personal relationships for fictional drama.

The 6th annual San Diego Indiefest is slated for March 26-27 in North Park and, for the first time, the entire first day will be dedicated to everything indie film.

“In The Darkness” is not your average feature film release. Basically bypassing all traditional distribution routes, the team behind the film is ready to embrace the digital age through the online-only launch on Hulu.com.

Today’s tragic death of Olympic luger athlete Nodar Kumaritashvili, just hours before tonight’s opening ceremonies, has raised hard questions about the safety of this year’s daredevil competitions and the impact they can have on the athletes.

Sunday night, Scilla and IndieFlix hosted a free Sundance screening at Roy St. Coffee & Tea, the Seattle coffee house where we do weekly short film screenings. It’s all part of what we like to call project living room – reaching out to our local film buffs and sharing what we find for free. Roy Street has been generous enough to give us Wednesday and Sunday night screenings with programming we switch up every week.

We filmmakers need to get people excited about our films. Rather than hoping to stumble across a successful marketing approach for a film, it’s better to plan one from the very start–ideally before you commit to making the film–and tweak it based on what really gets people to pay to watch movies. “6 Ways” is about those things that motivate someone to say, “I’ve got to see that!”
