Boxes are lit and filmed, 16 mm filmstrips were scratched and digitized. These visual elements were set to a soundscape that was composed first out of distorted everyday sounds.
Director Jake Strickland is a 16 year old junior at Seattle Academy High School.
“As I worked, I slowly but surely destroyed every aspect of my originally clear vision, from the recording of the soundtrack to the editing of the footage. Since the project was mine alone I was free to do whatever I liked, fearlessly integrating new ideas and eliminating the old,” said Strickland. “Whether or not these decisions were for the best, the final product is one of the few things that I’ve created that I don’t regard with utmost scorn, so I suppose that I can’t complain. Plus, it’s colorful! Everyone loves colorful things!”
