The Victor Short Film Awards at Pinewood Studios!

Monday, March 23rd, 2009

Hello Everyone,

Our friend and colleague Mark Bradley as starred in a short film that will be playing in the Victor Short Film Awards at the prestigious Pinewood Studios!  Information is below along with a video!

Thanks!

IndieFlix

Welcome to the official site of the 2009 Victor short film winner of winner awards.

What Are The Victors?

The Victors Awards are given for supreme excellence in video and film production. Submissions are sent by winning short film entrants from festivals around the UK.
We ask all FILM FESTIVALS to request their winning entrants to submit to the Victor Awards. All winning films will again be filtered down to win the prestigious winner of winners awards at The Victor’s.

The Supreme Award.
To win a Victor Award means that your work has gone head to head against other award winning short film festival winners. We hope to eventually receive film submissions from all U.K & Ireland film festivals.
Hosted at Pinewood Studios prestigious Theatre 7 and using the latest technology to screen the winning short films. The Victor’s are the elite short film awards.
The 10 Victor’s are currently awarded in a single ceremony per year. The awards are sponsored by ReelThingProductions who award a cash prize for best new mini feature. We are also in talks to gain further sponsors.

THE TWIST

If we receive enough applications for the awards, we propose to take the award winner from each category into our employment and fund the completion of a full length feature film.

The 10 Victor winners will form the core of a New Production team.

Three completed feature film scripts will be made available to the New Production Team. A vote on which script to produce will then take place and production will commence.

The New Production team will be contracted to complete a feature length production, under the supervision ofReelThing Productions.

This is a totally unique and un-tested idea. Unfortunately we cannot and at this early stage commit 100% to the concept, however and if this system works we stand to make film making history.

In March 2009 we will inform the already excited media and various web sites to launch the Victors.

10 people will win an award this year. It could be you!

Submissions are welcome by Film Festivals and any serious film maker. You must be over the age of 18 years old or have written and signed permission along with your application form, from a suitable parent or guardian to enter the competition.

Good luck.

“For any film maker the opportunity of screening at Theatre 7 is enticing. I had the pleasure of meeting the Chief Projectionist one afternoon and it was clear that faultless, precision perfect projection was his base bench mark. Because screening on the same silver as Bond, SlumDog and countless other movies the victors are a real opportunity enjoy. Now go make a film!

Marc A Bradley,

Actor / Director of short film.

New Film “Fast Friday” Trailer!

Tuesday, March 17th, 2009

Here is the trailer for the new film “Fast Friday” now available on IndieFlix.com.  Click the poster above to purchase the DVD or stream on your computer!

Film Description

Director David Rowe documents the emergence of the prolific track bike scene in Seattle Washington. Started by Cadence Clothing founder and fixed-gear rider Dustin Klein, the monthly cycling event known as “Fast Friday” has grown into a showcase of today’s most talented riders.

Director’s Statement

Faced with creating a story out of 30 hours of aimless footage I nearly gave up, until I decided to focus on the event’s ability to bring people together, instead of telling individual stories of the participants. If I could do it all again I would absolutely focus more on the riders involved to tell a far more interesting tale. Nevertheless I did what I could to create an accurate portrayal of the event that has brought so many cyclists together. This movie has been my real life film school. I’ve learned a thousand things along the way, and would have done everything different if I had known what I was doing in the beginning, having never edited anything longer than 3 minutes before this, I am quite self -conscious of showing my first effort. I feel like a child whose finger paintings are getting their first gallery exhibit. In the end, if I’ve made a film those involved with will enjoy, then I’ll be content, but if others outside the bicycle scene enjoy it too, then I’m one step closer to a career as a feature filmmaker.

Creating this film fund makes me want to make movies again.

Monday, March 9th, 2009

film-fund

I haven’t shot a lick of film since I started IndieFlix 4 years ago.  I never, ever thought I would end up so wholly involved in distribution and loving it.  I didn’t think I had the aptitude nor the relationships to do it successfully.  I was willing to basically give my film away for 5-10 years in order to secure distribution, how ludicrous! Now I distribute films for a living. I know other filmmakers may feel the same way.  Well, stop right there!  If you have made a film you have the ability to distribute it.  We can talk about that later.

Right now I just want to share my excitement and deepened sense of responsibility to soon be able to help fund future film projects.

We here at IndieFlix  have had the pleasure to get to know some pretty wonderful and talented filmmakers with future projects ready to go.  I look forward to championing  some of these films and yes it does make me miss the set and shooting my own films.

Official announcement with details coming spring 09.

Searching for Angela Shelton: In the award-winning documentary, filmmaker Angela Shelton drives around the United States, meeting other Angela Sheltons. She discovers that 24 out of the 40 Angela Sheltons she spoke to had been survivors of rape, childhood sexual abuse and/or domestic violence. (The number jumped to 28 out of 40 when 4 more Angelas broke their silence after the movie was finished.) Then the filmmaker meets an Angela Shelton who tracks sexual predators and lives in the same town as the filmmaker’s father who molested her and her step siblings for years. Angela Shelton’s survey of women becomes a journey of self-discovery when she decides to confront her own past and her father – on Father’s Day. The Angela Sheltons complete the journey by teaching the filmmaker about forgiveness, faith and the power of the human spirit, no matter what your name is. If 70% of the Angela Shelton’s had been victims of abuse, what does that say about women in general? Angela Shelton could have picked any name.
